Course
The Supertri Austin course
The swim is in Lady Bird Lake with the downtown skyline in front of you, using a rolling start by self-seeded waves, and transition, finish and the post-race party sit on Auditorium Shores just 50 m from the swim exit. The bike runs on closed downtown streets in 10 km laps (one for the SuperSprint, two for the sprint, four for the Olympic): each lap climbs Congress Avenue from Cesar Chavez to a U-turn at the Texas Capitol, drops fast back toward downtown, then turns sharp right for a long straight on Cesar Chavez before returning over the South 1st Street Bridge.

It is flat and fast apart from that Congress climb, which you meet once per lap. The run crosses the South 1st Street Bridge and loops through Butler Park and past the Palmer Events Center, one lap for the sprint and two for the Olympic, finishing on Auditorium Shores. Olympic athletes must start their fourth bike lap by 11:00 a.m. and finish by 1:00 p.m., and the organizers note that routes can still change before race day.

- Race-day conditions
- The organizers say Lady Bird Lake is normally borderline 78 °F in late May, so plan for a possible non-wetsuit swim (wetsuits count for awards below 78 °F and are optional without awards from 78.1 to 83.9 °F). Late May in Austin usually runs from about 70 °F at dawn to around 90 °F in the afternoon, with high humidity, so the run will feel warm. There is no aid station on the bike, so carry all your fluids and electrolytes.
What to train for
Prepare to climb Congress Avenue four times in the Olympic: do 6 to 8 x 90 seconds seated at threshold power on a moderate hill, rolling straight into steady aero riding on the flat.
Practice tight U-turns and sharp corners, accelerating smoothly back to speed, because every lap has a Capitol turnaround and the right-hander onto Cesar Chavez.
Do most of your swim sessions without a wetsuit so a warm-water day changes nothing, and finish key bricks with 20 to 30 minutes at race pace in the heat of the day to adapt to humid Texas running.

Taper
Tapering for the Supertri Austin
Start the taper seven to ten days before race day. Trim the volume in all three sports, keep short race-pace efforts in each, and do one last short brick so running off the bike still feels familiar. The course rolls, so keep one short session on undulating ground in the first taper week. With the race on May 31, 2027, your taper starts around May 22, 2027.
