Course
The Luck of the Irish Triathlon course
Everything is based at the LISD Aquatic Center on Memorial Drive in The Colony. The Sprint swim is 300 m in a 50 m indoor pool as a snake swim: you swim down a lane, duck under the rope and come back up the next, for 11 lanes in total, while the Super Sprint swims 200 m.

The bike is a 4.5 mile loop on Memorial Drive, Paige Road, North Colony Boulevard and Morning Star Drive, ridden twice for the Sprint (9 miles) and once for the Super Sprint, so keep count of your laps. The run is a 5K loop through the neighborhoods around the aquatic center (2 miles for the Super Sprint), and the whole course is on flat suburban roads. The Sprint starts at 7:30 a.m. and the Super Sprint at 8:30 a.m., making this an early-season race on the North Texas calendar.

- Race-day conditions
- The swim is in an indoor pool, so water temperature and open-water wetsuit rules do not shape your race. Late March mornings in The Colony are usually 45–60 °F at the 7:30 a.m. start, often breezy, with spring storms possible, so have a layer ready for the bike if you will be wet from the pool.
What to train for
A pool swim with lane changes rewards smooth turns and calm passing more than open-water skills: practise 25 to 50 m repeats ducking under a lane rope and getting straight back into rhythm.
The flat bike suits a steady, slightly hard effort for 25 to 35 minutes, and short weekly bricks of a 20 minute ride straight into a 10 to 15 minute run teach your legs the switch.
Rehearse your transitions too: on a course this short, a smooth T1 and T2 can be worth as much as a fitter swim.

Your build to race day
Taper
Tapering for the Luck of the Irish Triathlon
Start the taper seven to ten days before race day. Trim the volume in all three sports, keep short race-pace efforts in each, and do one last short brick so running off the bike still feels familiar. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week. With the race on March 21, 2027, your taper starts around March 12, 2027.
