On the most recent published map, the first 5 km run east along Figueroa Alcorta past the Cementerio de la Recoleta, then the course turns onto Av. 9 de Julio past the Obelisco and Teatro Colón around km 6. Kilometres 7 to 13 loop through the historic centre near the Casa Rosada and down Av. de Mayo, Paseo Colón and Independencia before heading back up 9 de Julio and home along Av. del Libertador past the Rosedal. The asphalt course is certified by World Athletics, carries a World Athletics Label, and the organisers bill it as the fastest half marathon circuit in the Americas, where the one-hour barrier fell in 2018. The time limit is 3 hours.

- Weather on race day
- Late August in Buenos Aires is late winter: the 8:00 a.m. start is usually cool, around 8–12 °C, with afternoon highs near 18 °C and humidity around 70%. Rain falls on about one day in four, so bring a throwaway layer for the corral and expect ideal conditions for a fast, even-paced run.
What to train for
A flat, fast course rewards steady pacing and a strong threshold, so build a weekly tempo run up to 30–40 minutes at half marathon effort and add 4–5 × 2 km slightly faster than goal pace.
Build long runs to 18–22 km with the last 6–8 km at goal pace, since the run home along Av. del Libertador is where a well-paced race pays off.
Practise running tight 90 and 180 degree turns at pace, because the loop through the centre has several corners and U-turns. Cool late-winter mornings suit fast running, so commit to an even split from the first kilometre.

Taper
Tapering for the 21K de Buenos Aires
Start the taper ten to fourteen days before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week.
