Official buses leave from Caballitos de Marly in the park, the last at 5:30 a.m. for the marathon and half and 6:30 a.m. for the 10K. - Weather on race day
- Early May is autumn in Mendoza, with average highs around 20 °C and lows around 9 °C at the start of the month. It is dry, with about a 6% chance of a wet day, no muggy days and light winds of roughly 10 km/h, mostly from the east. Expect a cool, crisp start in the foothills that warms as you reach the city, so a throwaway layer for the bus wait and steady drinking at the aid stations will serve you well.
What to train for
The marathon is point to point, from the foothills to the city, so study the official course map early and train on roads that match the stretches it shows, mixing long steady runs with some rolling terrain.
Build long runs to 30 to 32 km and practice goal pace in the second half of them, since the finish along Boulogne Sur Mer comes after a long day.
Mendoza sits at about 750 m, a little higher than many runners are used to, so give yourself a few easy days on arrival if you can. With an early bus and an 8:00 a.m. start, rehearse your breakfast and race-morning routine on training days.
