    Course

    The Rosario Half Marathon course

The Media Maratón Ciudad de Rosario has been run every year since 2001 by the Asociación Rosarina de Atletismo, which also organizes the city's marathon. Start and finish sit on Avenida Belgrano at Córdoba, in front of the Monumento Nacional a la Bandera, with an 8:00 start.

The 21 km route takes in some of Rosario's best-known spots, including Parque de la Independencia, Parque Urquiza, Bulevar Oroño and Avenida Pellegrini, and every kilometre is signposted. Alongside the competitive 21K there is an 8 km participative race for runners aged 15 and up. The time limit for the half is 3 hours from the start.

    Half marathon, 5 miles
    Weather on race day
Early May in Rosario is mid-autumn, usually a comfortable time to race. National Weather Service (SMN) normals for the Rosario Aero station put the May average high at about 20 °C and the low at about 9 °C. May brings around 58 mm of rain spread over roughly 5 days, and relative humidity averages about 81 percent. With an 8:00 start, the first kilometres are often cool, so a throwaway layer helps until you warm up.

    What to train for

This is a city road course with marked kilometres, so it rewards a well-rehearsed goal pace: run tempo segments of 20 to 40 minutes at half-marathon effort in the weeks before.

Build your long run up to 18 to 20 km so the last stretch back to the Monument feels strong.

If you are stepping up from the 8K, the generous 3 hour limit gives you room to run your first half with confidence. Practise drinking on the move, because hydration is handed out along the course and at the finish.
