The Tom King Classic course

Nashville's flat, fast half, starting and finishing at Cornelia Fort Airpark on ground with very little elevation change. The combined half and 5K field is capped at 600 for parking reasons, which makes it a small, uncrowded race and the local choice for a half where the clock is the only thing you are racing.

Weather on race day

March mornings in Nashville are cool and unpredictable. Cold and clear is common, and so is cold and wet.

What to train for

Flat and fast rewards sustained threshold work. Long tempo blocks at goal pace matter more here than hills, and even pacing will beat a fast first three miles.
