Course
The Pardeeville Triathlon course
Pardeeville is the third race of the Wisconsin Triathlon Series and one of the oldest triathlons in the state, based at Chandler Park on Park Lake with a later 8:00 a.m. start. The swim is a 400 m (about a quarter-mile) leg along the lake shore, easy for friends and family to watch.

The 15-mile bike is gently rolling, with the route map staying between roughly 800 and 920 feet of elevation. The 5K run starts with a loop around the park and then weaves through the town of Pardeeville back to the finish. Everyone has three hours, and there is a novice wave for first-timers.

- Race-day conditions
- Early July in south-central Wisconsin usually brings mornings in the low 60s °F and afternoon highs in the low 80s, often humid, and the 8:00 a.m. start means a warmer run than at most series races. Wetsuits are mandatory below 58 °F, legal up to 78 °F and allowed without awards from 78.1 to 83.9 °F, so check the race-morning call. Drink on the bike and use every aid station on the run.
What to train for
This is a short, fast sprint, so train speed and smooth transitions.
Swim 6 to 8 x 100 m at race pace with 20 seconds rest, and practice open-water sighting along a shoreline.
On the bike, ride 3 x 8 minutes at sprint effort over gentle rollers, carrying speed over the tops instead of easing off. Finish with a weekly brick of 30 minutes on the bike into 10 to 15 minutes at 5K pace, done late in the morning to get used to running warm.

Your build to race day
Taper
Tapering for the Pardeeville Triathlon
Start the taper seven to ten days before race day. Trim the volume in all three sports, keep short race-pace efforts in each, and do one last short brick so running off the bike still feels familiar. The course rolls, so keep one short session on undulating ground in the first taper week. With the race on July 10, 2027, your taper starts around July 1, 2027.
