In earlier editions the bike looped on the TransBeto road toward the SC-414, close to Beto Carrero World, and the run used the beachfront avenues Itapocorói and Antônio Joaquim Tavares. The Extreme is a long-course test of 1 km swim, 104 km bike and 10 km run with a 6-hour limit and a 12 m no-draft gap, while the Sprint (750 m, 25.2 km, 5 km, also offered on a mountain bike) and the Super Sprint (375 m, 12.6 km, 2.5 km) suit first-timers. The 2027 race is the 18th edition, and the organisers confirm the final course maps at the technical briefing, so check the course page in the last weeks before race day.

- Race-day conditions
- Sea temperatures off Santa Catarina in February are usually 24–27 °C, and the GP rules allow wetsuits for age-groupers only when the water is 24.5 °C or colder, so prepare for a non-wetsuit swim. Mornings are warm and humid, usually in the low to mid 20s °C at the start and rising toward 30 °C by late morning, with a chance of summer showers. The early start helps: hydrate well the day before and carry more fluid on the bike than you think you need.
What to train for
Swim in open water without a wetsuit at least once a week in the final two months, practising sighting every 6 to 8 strokes and beach exits with a short run to transition.
For the Extreme, build to rides of 3 to 3.5 hours at steady effort followed by 20 to 30 minute runs, and practise eating and drinking on the bike every 20 minutes in the heat.
Sprint athletes gain most from a weekly brick: 30 to 45 minutes on the bike at race effort straight into a 15 to 20 minute run. Know the swim cut-offs and train comfortably inside them: 40 minutes for the 1 km Extreme swim and 35 minutes for the 750 m Sprint swim.

Taper
Tapering for the GP Triathlon Penha
Start the taper seven to ten days before race day. Trim the volume in all three sports, keep short race-pace efforts in each, and do one last short brick so running off the bike still feels familiar. The course rolls, so keep one short session on undulating ground in the first taper week. With the race on February 14, 2027, your taper starts around February 5, 2027.
