Course
The Caranguejoman Aracaju course
The first stage of the 2027 Caranguejoman series is based at the Orla Pôr do Sol, the riverside promenade on the Vaza-Barris estuary at the southern end of Aracaju. The organisers describe the whole course as flat and fast with sea views, so expect quick, low-lying roads rather than climbs.

Four distances share the venue, from a 400 m Super Sprint where swim buoys and mountain bikes are allowed, up to the Long (1.5 km swim, 60 km bike, 15 km run). Drafting is allowed only behind athletes of the same sex, and in the Standard and Long distances only road or TT bikes are permitted. Swim laps and the exact bike and run routes are confirmed in the athlete guide and the video briefing before the race.

- Race-day conditions
- Late January in Aracaju is usually hot and sunny, around 24 °C at dawn climbing past 30 °C by late morning, with only a few rainy days a month and a steady sea breeze. Water this far north in Brazil is warm, so plan for a swim without a wetsuit; the organisers announce the wetsuit rule in the athlete guide. Heat is the real challenge on the run, so hydrate early on the bike and use every aid station.
What to train for
A flat course with legal same-sex drafting rewards bike handling: practise riding in a group and holding a wheel, and use intervals that mimic surges out of turnarounds.
Train for heat with some sessions in the warmest part of the day and a fluid and electrolyte plan you have tested on long bricks.
Open-water practice matters: sight every 6 to 8 strokes and rehearse swimming in chop and current. For the Standard, build to bricks of 60 to 90 minutes on the bike followed by 20 to 30 minutes at race pace.

Taper
Tapering for the Caranguejoman Aracaju
Start the taper seven to ten days before race day. Trim the volume in all three sports, keep short race-pace efforts in each, and do one last short brick so running off the bike still feels familiar. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week. With the race on January 31, 2027, your taper starts around January 22, 2027.
