Course
The IRONMAN Brasil course
The 3.8 km swim is a single lap in the calm water off Jurerê Internacional, starting about 1 km from transition in front of Ammo Beach and exiting beside P12. The 180 km bike is two laps on the island's roads, relatively flat but exposed and often windy, which turns pacing into a tactical exercise.

The 42.2 km run is four laps through Jurerê, where tri clubs set up tents along Avenida dos Búzios and create some of the loudest support in the sport. Raced for more than 20 years, the course is fast enough to have hosted a world-record performance in 2017.

- Race-day conditions
- IRONMAN lists an average water temperature of 20 °C (21 °C in 2026), comfortably wetsuit-legal under the 24.5 °C rule. June is early winter in Florianópolis: expect roughly 12–16 °C at dawn and 20–24 °C in the afternoon, with sunny spells and cool, windy days. Pack arm warmers or a vest for the early bike and a warm layer for a run that may finish after dark.
What to train for
Wind is the big variable on the bike, so train to hold steady power into headwinds and resist chasing speed with the wind behind you: long rides of 4–6 hours with 2–3 hours at IRONMAN power in the aero position.
Practise a calm, even 3.8 km open-water swim in your wetsuit, ideally in cool water.
On the run, rehearse marathon fuelling in long runs of 2.5–3 hours and do 60–90 minute bricks off long rides so the first of the four laps stays relaxed.

Taper
Tapering for the IRONMAN Brasil
Start the taper two to three weeks before race day. Trim the volume in all three sports, keep short race-pace efforts in each, and do one last short brick so running off the bike still feels familiar. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week. With the race on June 13, 2027, your taper starts around May 26, 2027.
