Course
The 21K Coahuila course
The 21K Coahuila starts at 6:00 a.m. by the Teatro de la Ciudad Fernando Soler, at Xicoténcatl and Bulevar Francisco Coss in central Saltillo, with wheelchair racers away at 5:45. In 2026 both the start and the finish were on Bulevar Francisco Coss, and the road closures covered Urdiñola, Paseo de la Reforma, Abasolo, Juárez, Victoria, Purcell, Aldama and Cuauhtémoc, with effects on Bulevar Venustiano Carranza, Calzada Emilio Carranza, Bulevar Egipto and Bulevar J.

Mery, so expect a tour of the city's main avenues and historic centre. Results are validated by the Mexican Athletics Federation (FMAA) and AIMS. Saltillo sits at about 1,590 m, so this is a half marathon at altitude for anyone coming from the coast.

- Half marathon
- Weather on race day
- Mid-June is Saltillo's warmest stretch, with average highs near 28 °C and lows near 16 °C, so the 6:00 start, right around sunrise, usually brings cool, comfortable air. The sun climbs quickly at this altitude, so the last kilometres can warm up and feel strong; wear a cap and sunscreen. Humidity is low and muggy days are rare, but there is about a one in five chance of a wet day as the summer rains begin. Drink well in the days before the race, since dry, high air dehydrates you faster.
What to train for
Altitude is the big factor: at about 1,590 m your usual pace will feel harder, so if you live lower, train by effort or heart rate rather than strict pace and plan a slightly more conservative goal.
Build long runs of 16 to 20 km and tempo work at half marathon effort, such as 3 x 3 km or 2 x 5 km with short recoveries.
Arriving in Saltillo a few days early, if you can, gives your body time to settle. Because the start is at 6:00, rehearse an early breakfast and a few early morning runs so race day feels routine.
