The Olympic bike is 49 km rather than the usual 40 km, the Sprint rides 20 km and the Super Sprint rides two laps of a 5 km circuit for 10 km. The run uses a 5 km circuit: one lap for the Sprint, two laps for the Olympic's 10 km, and a single 2.5 km lap for the Super Sprint. In 2026 the age-group races started in the afternoon, so the bike rolls at sunset and the finish line is crossed at night.

- Race-day conditions
- Early March in La Paz is dry and pleasant, with average highs around 27 °C and lows around 13 °C, and the chance of rain is close to zero. Sea surface temperatures average about 21 °C, so the swim feels refreshing. Winds average about 12 km/h and blow mostly from the north in the first half of March. Sunset comes around 18:25 in early March, so the bike starts warm and the run cools down nicely after dark; still, drink steadily in the afternoon heat.
What to train for
The 49 km Olympic bike is about 9 km longer than standard, so stretch your long rides beyond race distance and practice fueling for a ride of roughly 90 minutes or more.
Because racing finishes after dark, schedule a few late-afternoon bricks so your body knows how it feels to run at dinner time.
Open-water swims in the sea will help you sight on buoys and stay calm in a mass start. On the multi-lap run circuit, settle into an even rhythm on the first lap and use the crowd on the malecón to lift the second.
