Transition is on the explanada at Bahía de Santa Cruz, by La Crucecita, and the coastal boulevard that links Santa Cruz with the Tangolunda hotel zone carries the bike and run.

- Race-day conditions
- Ten years of mid-June weather data for Huatulco show average highs near 30 °C and lows near 25 °C, with about 27 °C at 8 am and high morning humidity. June is the start of the rainy season, and showers fell on most days in this window, usually later in the day. The early start helps, but drink well before the swim, use every aid station and race by feel in the heat.
What to train for
Huatulco is a hot, humid bay race, so build heat tolerance with some sessions in the warm part of the day and a clear drinking plan for every leg.
Swim in open water when you can, practising sighting and steady starts in a crowd.
Build bike strength with one weekly session of race-pace intervals, and practise riding steadily on the aero bars on coastal roads if you have them nearby. Do a weekly brick in the last 6 to 8 weeks, running 15 to 30 minutes straight off the bike.
