Course
The Capixaba de Ferro Vitória course
The race is based at the Arena CF on Praia de Camburi, Vitória's long city beach, with Sprint and Standard waves all starting at 6 a.m. The sea swim is a 750 m lap off Camburi (one lap for the Sprint, two for the Standard), and the bike uses a 10 km circuit on Avenida Dante Michelini and Avenida Fernando Ferrari past Vitória Airport (two laps Sprint, four laps Standard).
Read the full course notes
The run follows Avenida Dante Michelini along the seafront with a turnaround at 2.5 km (one lap Sprint, two laps Standard). The whole course is flat and at sea level, and drafting is allowed between athletes of the same sex and race, which makes the bike far more tactical than a typical age-group triathlon. Entry is capped at 1,000 athletes, and there is a 9 a.m. bike cutoff.

- Race-day conditions
- Vitória in March is usually hot and humid: expect around 24–26 °C at the 6 a.m. start and highs near 31 °C, with humidity around 77% and a sea breeze along Camburi. The sea is warm, usually around 27–28 °C, yet the regulations allow and recommend wetsuits, and an open-water safety buoy is permitted. Plan to drink at every run aid station, because the heat climbs quickly after 8 a.m.
What to train for
Because drafting is legal, practise group riding: rotating in a paceline, holding a wheel safely and answering surges, ideally once a week with your club.
Do sea swims with sighting and beach-start practice, since wave starts are hectic for the first 200 m.
Run weekly bricks in the morning heat (for example 40 km on the bike plus 5 km running for the Standard) and rehearse fueling so you start the 10 km run well hydrated. Flat, repeated laps reward a steady effort and a quick transition.

Your build to race day
Taper
Tapering for the Capixaba de Ferro Vitória
Start the taper seven to ten days before race day. Trim the volume in all three sports, keep short race-pace efforts in each, and do one last short brick so running off the bike still feels familiar. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week. With the race on March 21, 2027, your taper starts around March 12, 2027.
