The swim starts at sunrise in Tampa Bay off North Shore Park and heads south along the shore past the North Shore Aquatic Complex to the exit at Vinoy Park: 1,640 yards (1.5 km) for the Olympic, which starts at 6:50 a.m., and 820 yards (750 m) for the sprint at about 8:35 a.m. The organizers describe a flat, fast, closed course. On the published bike maps both distances ride west on First Avenue South to a turnaround at 28th Street South, and the Olympic then heads south through the neighborhoods to a turnaround on Pinellas Point Drive for 24.8 miles, while the sprint turns back sooner for 11.2 miles. The 2026 Olympic run is an out-and-back of 6.2 miles along North Shore Drive and Coffee Pot Boulevard to Snell Isle and Brightwaters Boulevard, finishing on Bayshore Drive; the sprint runs 3.1 miles.

- Race-day conditions
- Late April in St. Petersburg averages highs around 81 °F and lows around 69 °F, so the early start is pleasant and the run warms up quickly. Muggy days become common late in the month (roughly half of days), so start drinking early on the bike. Tampa Bay usually sits around 73 to 75 °F at this time of year, which is warm, so check the athlete guide for the race-day wetsuit decision. Winds average about 9 mph, mostly from the east, and sunrise is just before 7:00 a.m.
What to train for
A flat bike means steady pressure the whole way, so build sustained efforts like 3 x 12 to 15 minutes at Olympic effort in an aero or low position, with smooth cadence through the many turns.
Practise turnarounds and quick accelerations out of corners, since both bike courses use them.
Open-water swims in salt water, with sighting every 6 to 8 strokes, will help you hold a line along the shore. Add a weekly brick of 45 to 60 minutes riding straight into 15 to 25 minutes at goal run pace, and train some runs in the heat of the day so a warm finish feels familiar.

Your build to race day
Taper
Tapering for the St. Anthony's Triathlon
Start the taper seven to ten days before race day. Trim the volume in all three sports, keep short race-pace efforts in each, and do one last short brick so running off the bike still feels familiar. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week. With the race on April 25, 2027, your taper starts around April 16, 2027.
