    Course

    The Cincinnati Triathlon course

Zoom Multisport Racing's Cincinnati Triathlon & Multisport Festival takes over the beach at Caesar Creek State Park near Waynesville, between Cincinnati and Dayton, with the start, finish and packet pickup on the beachfront north of the park office. Triathlon options run from a Beginner race (200 meters, 6.5 miles, 1.5 miles) through the Sprint (750 meters, 14 miles, 5K) and Olympic (1,500 meters, 26 miles, 10K) up to a 1/3 Iron (2,000 meters, 38 miles, 9.3 miles).

The swims are marked loops swum clockwise, the bike is an out-and-back loop repeated for the longer races, and the run repeats a 5K out-and-back. Duathlons, aquabikes, aquathlons, open-water swims and open runs fill out the day, and the course closes at 12:30 pm. In 2026 the race was on August 16, and the 2027 date has not been announced yet.

    Formats
    Olympic, Sprint, 1/3 Iron, Beginner
    Race-day conditions
Ten years of mid-August weather data for the Caesar Creek area show average highs near 82 °F and lows near 66 °F, with about 68 °F at 8 am and humid mornings close to 90 percent humidity. Rain falls on roughly four days in ten in this window, often as afternoon storms. Start well hydrated, use every aid station and expect the run to be the warmest part of your day.

    What to train for

With repeated out-and-back loops, this course is about even pacing and smooth turnarounds, so practise U-turns on the bike and hold the same effort on every lap.

For the Olympic or 1/3 Iron, build long rides to at least the race distance and add weekly bricks of 20 to 40 minutes off the bike.

Practise clockwise open-water loops so the buoy turns feel natural. August heat makes hydration a skill, so rehearse your bottle plan on long hot rides.
