    Course

    The Carrollton Half Marathon course

The half starts and finishes at historic Adamson Square in downtown Carrollton, with corrals assigned by expected finish time and a 7:15 a.m. start. The route runs through the city and past Lake Carroll around sunrise, then onto the Carrollton GreenBelt trail through shaded, rolling hills.

It comes home on a flat stretch of road back to the square, so you can set up a strong final mile. The course closes at 10:45 a.m., three and a half hours after the start, and the race sells out each year under a firm runner cap. Proceeds support the Carrollton GreenBelt and the Community Foundation of West Georgia.

    Weather on race day
Late September in west Georgia is usually warm and humid, with start temperatures around 60–70 °F and afternoon highs in the 80s. Start a little conservatively, drink at the stations, and use your summer heat training so race morning feels manageable.

    What to train for

The GreenBelt's rolling hills reward runners who keep effort steady up and down, so include one hilly run a week and a session of 8 to 10 x 60 to 90 seconds uphill at 10K effort.

Build long runs to 11 to 13 miles on rolling terrain, running the last 2 miles at goal pace on flat ground to rehearse the finish.

Summer training in the Georgia heat is good preparation, so dial in your hydration and run early in the morning. If you can, join the course preview offered on expo weekend.
