    Course

    The Zürich Marathon course

All three races start on the Quaibrücke and finish on Sechseläutenplatz in the heart of Zürich. The marathon starts at 08:00 and runs through the city and along the shore of Lake Zürich to a turnaround in Meilen and back, with a net time limit of 5 hours 30 minutes and a cutoff at the Meilen turnaround at 11:10.

The half marathon starts at 13:15 and follows the lake and the city centre with a 2 hour 45 minute limit, and the On Z10 10K starts at 16:00 on a fast, scenic city-centre course with a 90 minute limit. Every distance is measured to World Athletics standards, and pacers cover 3:00 to 5:30 in the marathon, 1:30 to 2:30 in the half and 0:45 to 1:10 in the 10K. The organizers note that city construction may bring small route changes, announced closer to race day.

    Distances
    10K, Half marathon, Marathon
    Weather on race day
Mid-April in Zürich brings mild spring weather, with average highs around 14 °C and lows near 4 °C. The 08:00 marathon start can feel cool, so bring a throwaway layer, while afternoon starters will usually race in warmer air. Rain falls on roughly 37% of April days, and a light westerly breeze of about 10 km/h is typical along the lake.

    What to train for

A long, even stretch along the lake rewards steady pacing, so practise holding goal pace for 10 to 15 km at a time inside your long runs.

Marathoners should build long runs toward 30 to 32 km and rehearse fuelling at race pace, keeping the 11:10 Meilen cutoff comfortably in hand.

Half marathon and 10K runners start in the afternoon, so try a few key sessions at that time of day and plan race-day meals around the later start. The organizers say 70% of participants run a personal best in Zürich, and the pacers make it easy to lock onto your target.
