The Biel 100 km course
The Bieler Lauftage, or Courses de Bienne, take place on 11 and 12 June 2027, with start and finish at the Tissot Arena in Biel/Bienne. The heart of the weekend is the legendary 100 km night race, whose route has run for decades through more than 20 municipalities in two cantons, with 18 aid stations along the way.

Solo 100 km runners may be accompanied by a cyclist from Lyss onward, and on-site registration stays open until two hours before each start. The half marathon has aid stations in Biel and Aegerten, and the 10 km is a fast urban night circuit with one aid station in the city, which started at 23:15 in 2026. Relays for teams of five or two, a 10 km fun and walking event and the Coop Kids Run complete the programme.
- Distances
- 10K, Half marathon, 100K
- Weather on race day
- Mid-June in Biel/Bienne brings average daytime highs of about 21 °C and night lows around 11 to 12 °C, so the night can feel cool after a warm day. Sunset is around 21:25 and sunrise around 05:35, so many 100 km runners finish in the morning light. June is the wettest month of the year in Biel, with rain on roughly 40% of days, so pack a light rain jacket and a warm layer for the small hours.
What to train for
The 100 km is run through the night, so practise running in the dark with a headlamp and plan at least one long run that starts late in the evening.
Build back-to-back long runs on weekends, for example 30 km on Saturday and 20 km on Sunday, and use them to rehearse eating and drinking every 20 to 30 minutes.
With 18 aid stations, decide in advance what you will take at each, and if a cyclist will join you from Lyss, train together on a few long sessions. Half marathon and 10 km runners should rest in the afternoon before the race and try a few late-evening sessions so the night start feels familiar.
