Course
The Vig-Bay course
Vig-Bay is a 21.097 km point-to-point along the Atlantic coast, starting on Avenida de Samil in Vigo and finishing in Baiona after passing through Nigrán. The official profile starts near sea level past Playa de la Foz and Playa del Vao, then the Canido climb from about km 3.5 takes you up to the high point of roughly 55 m at the Mide crossroads around km 6.

From there the road drifts gently down past the Patos crossroads to the coast at km 12, runs by Panxón, rises briefly over Monte Lourido around km 15, crosses the Ramallosa bridge near km 18 and stays close to sea level into Baiona. Runners start at 10:00, there are six colour-coded pens with pacers from 1:30 to 2:00, and the time limit is 2:45. The same morning, the Minibay covers 10.548 km from Nigrán to Baiona.

- Half marathon, 11K
- Weather on race day
- Mid-April around Vigo usually brings highs near 17 °C and lows near 10 °C, which makes for comfortable running at the 10:00 start. There is roughly a one in three chance of a wet day, so pack a light rain layer for the start. Average winds are about 11 km/h and blow mainly from the north, and the sea sits around 14 °C, so the coast can feel cool if the sun stays hidden.
What to train for
The race is decided by how you handle the Canido climb early on, so practise 5 to 8 minute climbs at steady effort and learn to settle back into half marathon pace on the long, gentle descent that follows.
Because most of the second half trends downhill or flat, include some downhill tempo running to prepare your quads.
Long runs of 16 to 20 km with the last 5 km at goal pace build the strength to use that fast finish to Baiona. Water comes at km 5, 10, 15 and 20 with sponges at 7.5, 12.5 and 17.5, so plan your drinks around those points.

Your build to race day
Taper
Tapering for the Vig-Bay
Start the taper ten to fourteen days before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp. The course rolls, so keep one short session on undulating ground in the first taper week. With the race on April 11, 2027, your taper starts around March 30, 2027.
