Course
The Vancouver Sun Run course
The 10K starts at 9:00 a.m. at Burrard and Georgia in the downtown core and finishes outside BC Place Stadium. The route heads through the West End to Denman Street and the English Bay waterfront, runs east along Beach Avenue and Pacific with views across the water, then crosses the Burrard Street Bridge.

From there it passes South False Creek and the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood before swinging past Science World to the finish. The official map shows about 80 m of total climbing, most of it the Burrard Bridge approach and a few short rises south of False Creek. Runners start in seeded time waves, and the streets are packed: this is Canada's largest 10K, with live music and cheer stations along the way.

- Weather on race day
- Mid-April in Vancouver usually means a 9:00 a.m. start around 7–12 °C, with average afternoon highs near 13 °C. Showers are common in April, so expect damp roads and dress in a light layer you can shed; cool air like this is ideal for running hard.
What to train for
Ten kilometres rewards sustained speed, so build around one threshold session a week (for example 3 × 10 minutes at the pace you could hold for an hour) plus a weekly run of 12–16 km.
Practise a short hill surge of 60–90 seconds in a few runs to rehearse the Burrard Bridge climb without losing rhythm.
Wave starts mean the first kilometre can be crowded, so plan to settle into goal pace by the 2 km mark rather than weaving early.

Your build to race day
Taper
Tapering for the Vancouver Sun Run
Start the taper seven to ten days before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week. With the race on April 18, 2027, your taper starts around April 9, 2027.
