Course
The Riverfront Tri course
Everything happens at Cocoa Riverfront Park on Riveredge Boulevard, with the start and finish near the park's amphitheater and the whole course set along the Indian River. The International triathlon is a 0.5-mile swim, a 25-mile bike and a 6.2-mile run, and the Sprint is a 0.25-mile swim, a 13-mile bike and a 3.1-mile run, per the race's course maps.

There are also International and Sprint duathlons (a 1-mile run before the bike), an International aquabike and relays for teams of two or three. Waves start from 6:45 a.m. for the International and aquabike, 7:00 for the duathlons and 7:10 for the Sprint, and transition closes 10 minutes before the first wave. The run keeps the river beside you, and the race is USA Triathlon sanctioned, so every athlete needs an annual or one-day USAT membership.
- Formats
- International, Sprint, International Aquabike, International Duathlon
- Race-day conditions
- Water temperature is not announced in advance: the USAT official takes it on race morning. Wetsuits are legal up to 78 °F, allowed from 78 to 84 °F without award eligibility, and not allowed at 84 °F and above, so train for both and bring your wetsuit. Early November in Cocoa usually runs from lows near 61 °F to highs near 78 °F, so expect a mild start, humid air and a warm run.
What to train for
Swim fitness is short here, so focus on a fast, smooth start and good sighting in open water, ideally with a few practice swims both with and without a wetsuit since the call comes on race morning.
The bike is the biggest share of the day: ride 2 to 3 x 15 minutes at International effort and practice holding an aero position for long stretches.
Do weekly bricks of 45 to 60 minutes on the bike straight into 15 to 20 minutes at 10K pace to get used to running off the bike in humid conditions. Rehearse transitions and arrive an hour before your wave as the organizers ask.

Taper
Tapering for the Riverfront Tri
Start the taper seven to ten days before race day. Trim the volume in all three sports, keep short race-pace efforts in each, and do one last short brick so running off the bike still feels familiar.
