Course
The Napoli City Half course
The race starts and finishes at the Mostra d'Oltremare exhibition grounds in Fuorigrotta, on Viale Kennedy, and carries the World Athletics Label, European Athletics and FIDAL Gold Label quality marks. Recent editions run through the Galleria Laziale tunnel to Piazza Sannazaro and onto Via Caracciolo, and much of the race follows the waterfront with Vesuvius across the bay.

The route passes Castel dell'Ovo and Piazza del Plebiscito, then heads out along the port toward the eastern side of the city before turning back the way it came. The profile is close to flat, with only gentle rises around the tunnels, all on asphalt. Tunnels can briefly drop your GPS signal, so pace off the kilometre markers there.

- Field

- Weather on race day
- February in Naples is usually mild for racing, roughly 5–14 °C across the day (the organisers cite around 13 °C), so the 9:00 start is typically cool. Rain falls on about one day in three in February and the seafront can be breezy, so a light layer you can discard and gloves for the start are sensible.
What to train for
A flat, fast seafront course rewards rhythm and pace judgement.
Make your key sessions threshold intervals, for example 3 × 3 km at half marathon pace or slightly faster, and long runs of 16–20 km with the final 5–6 km at goal pace.
Practise holding pace into a headwind for a few kilometres, since part of the waterfront will face the breeze, and run some tempo sessions in cold weather so a cool start does not tempt you out too fast.

Your build to race day
Taper
Tapering for the Napoli City Half
Start the taper ten to fourteen days before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week. With the race on February 21, 2027, your taper starts around February 9, 2027.

Napoli City Half training questions
How long should I train for the Napoli City Half?
