    Course

    The Alicante Half Marathon course

The 31st Meridiano Media Maratón Internacional y 10K Aguas de Alicante runs on Sunday 21 February 2027 at 9:30, starting and finishing in the Muelle 12 area of the port, next to the Ocean Race Museum. It is an urban course certified by the Spanish athletics federation (RFEA), so times are official, and every kilometre is marked.

On the 2026 route, runners headed along Avenida de Dénia, looped through La Isleta and La Albufereta, came back via La Cantera and Paseo de Gómiz, then crossed the Explanada before the half marathon turned into the city centre past Avenida de Soto, Avenida de Gadea, Avenida de la Constitución and the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Check the official map for the 2027 route. Aid stations sit at about km 5, 10 and 15.

    Distances
    Half marathon, 10K
    Weather on race day
Late February in Alicante is mild and dry: average highs are about 17 °C and lows about 8 °C. The chance of a wet day is only about 11 percent, and muggy air is very rare at this time of year. This is the windiest stretch of the year, with average winds around 17 km/h, shifting from the west to the north around race week. Dress light, wear a cap and sunscreen for the brighter late-morning kilometres, and drink at each station.

    What to train for

Build towards steady half marathon pace with weekly tempo runs of 20 to 40 minutes and a long run that reaches 18 to 22 km.

The cut-offs are generous but firm: 40 minutes at km 5, 1:10 at km 10, 1:45 at km 15, 2:20 at km 20 and 2:30 at the finish, so newer runners should practise a pace they can hold the whole way.

With more than 7,000 entries in 2026, the start can be busy, so rehearse a calm first kilometre and settle in once the field spreads out. February wind off the sea is common, so include some runs into a headwind and practise tucking in behind other runners.
