Course
The Mitja Marató d'Alcoi course
Start and finish are on Avenida Juan Gil Albert, beside the Eduardo Latorre sports complex, with one 10:30 start for every adult race. The course is a single 10.548 km city circuit that runs through all of Alcoi's neighbourhoods and past Plaza de España: the Quart de Marató is one lap, the half marathon is two.

Aid stations sit roughly every 5 km (km 5, 8.3, 10.5 and 15.5, plus the finish), and dance groups, batucadas and DJs line the streets, so the second lap never feels lonely. The organisers publish the route and a GPX track but no elevation profile; expect an urban loop that rolls with short rises and drops rather than one long climb. Half marathoners must finish the first lap inside 1:25 and the race inside 2:50.

- Half marathon, 11K
- Field
- Capped at 1,750 runners across the half and the quarter marathon
- Weather on race day
- Mid-December in Alcoi is usually cool and fairly dry, with mornings around 8 °C warming toward the mid-teens by midday, so expect roughly 10–15 °C during the race. Northerly breezes are common and wet days are rare; dress for the start in a throwaway layer and you will barely need to adjust your hydration.
What to train for
Two laps of the same circuit reward even pacing: run lap one at goal pace, not faster, and treat the return to the start area at 10.5 km as a checkpoint rather than a finish.
Do your long runs of 16 to 20 km on a rolling urban loop so the short rises feel routine, and add 8 to 10 x 45 seconds uphill at 10K effort once a week.
With a 10:30 start, rehearse breakfast about three hours before and practise drinking at 5 km intervals, matching the aid stations.
