    Course

    The Maratón Martín Fiz course

Every distance starts together at 8:30 a.m. on Paseo de Cervantes, beside Mendizorroza, on Sunday, May 16, 2027. The organizers call the 21K a flat, fast circuit and the 10K a fast course.

On the 2026 route the 10K circled Parque del Prado, ran north on Avenida Gasteiz, calle Honduras and Portal de Foronda and turned back at Avenida del Zadorra. The half and full marathon continued through Zaramaga and Portal de Legutiano, then into the old center by calle Olaguibel, Plaza de los Fueros and the Virgen Blanca square before leaving through Parque de la Florida. Marathoners find an aid station every 5 km from km 5, and the finish closes 5 hours 24 minutes after the start.

    Marathon, Half marathon, 10K, 5K
    Weather on race day
Mid-May in Vitoria-Gasteiz is fresh, with average highs around 19 °C and lows around 7 °C, which makes an early start very comfortable. The chance of a wet day is about 27 percent, so a light layer or a throwaway top is handy at the start. Winds come mostly from the north at around 12 km/h, and muggy days are rare. Expect cool air at 8:30 a.m. that warms through the morning, which suits a strong finish.

    What to train for

A flat city course is made for steady pacing, so build tempo runs of 8 to 14 km at goal pace and practice holding it through the second half.

The route has plenty of turns through the old town, so include some runs with corners and short accelerations to stay smooth.

Marathoners should check the intermediate time limits in the rules (5 km in 41:30, half way in about 2:41) and build long runs of 28 to 32 km. The 8:30 a.m. start means an early breakfast, so rehearse it on long-run days.
