Course
The Seville Marathon course
Billed by the organisers as the flattest marathon in Europe, it runs entirely at river level through the historic centre. The start is at 8:30 on Avenida de María Luisa by the Casino de la Exposición and the finish is on Paseo de las Delicias at the Glorieta de Buenos Aires, so you start and end beside María Luisa Park and Plaza de España.

In between the route crosses the Guadalquivir to Triana and Plaza de Cuba, runs north over the Barqueta bridge past Isla Mágica on La Cartuja, comes back through the Alameda de Hércules and finishes the tour past the Giralda, Plaza Nueva, Puerta de Jerez, the Torre del Oro and the Maestranza bullring. There are 15 aid stations, and the 6-hour limit counts from the last runner across the start line.

- Up to 20,000 runners (sold out for 2027, waiting list open)
- Weather on race day
- Mid-to-late February in Seville usually means a cool start around 7–12 °C, warming to 16–18 °C by early afternoon, with low humidity and only five or six rainy days in the month. Bright sun on the final 10 km can feel warmer than expected, so keep drinking at every station even if the start felt chilly.
What to train for
There is nowhere to hide and nowhere to recover on a course this flat, so the key sessions are long runs with sustained goal-pace segments: work up to 3 × 8 km at marathon pace with 1 km easy between.
Because the field is fast and deep, you will always have a group to run with, so practise drafting and even splits rather than surging.
A February race means your peak weeks fall in January, so plan for cold, dark mornings and get the 32 km long run done by early February.

Taper
Tapering for the Seville Marathon
Start the taper two to three weeks before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week. With the race on February 21, 2027, your taper starts around February 3, 2027.
