Course
The Frankfurt Half Marathon course
The race starts right in front of the main stand of the Deutsche Bank Park and finishes inside the stadium, on an AIMS-measured, all-road course that the organizers call largely flat, with every kilometre marked. On the 2026 map you leave through the Stadtwald on the Otto-Fleck-Schneise and Isenburger Schneise, then run Mörfelder Landstraße and Kennedyallee into Sachsenhausen by km 7.

From km 8 the course follows the Main: Deutschherrnufer, a crossing into the Altstadt around km 9, Schöne Aussicht and Mainkai, then back over the river to Schaumainkai and the Niederräder Ufer by km 13. The last third loops through Niederrad on Lyoner Straße, Adolf-Miersch-Straße and Gerauer Straße before Flughafenstraße brings you back to the stadium. The main race starts at 10:05 and the finish closes after 2:45.

- Weather on race day
- Late March in Frankfurt is cool, with average highs around 11 °C and early mornings near 2 °C, so the 10:05 start usually lands in the mid single digits to around 10 °C. The sky is overcast or mostly cloudy about 55% of the time and roughly one day in four brings rain. Winds average about 15 km/h, mostly from the west, which you may notice on the open stretches along the Main. Arrive in a warm layer you can drop, since the stadium grounds open at 8:00.
What to train for
A flat, measured course in March rewards steady pacing, so build your winter block around tempo runs and long intervals at half marathon pace, such as 3 x 3 km or 2 x 5 km with short recoveries.
Long runs of 16 to 20 km in January and February give you the base, and finishing the last few kilometres at goal pace teaches you to hold rhythm along the river.
Practise drinking from cups, since water comes at km 5, 10, 16 and 19 and sports drink with bananas at km 10 and 16. Pacers are planned for every finish time from 1:24:59 to 2:44:59, and earphones are not allowed, so get used to running a few sessions without music.

Your build to race day
Taper
Tapering for the Frankfurt Half Marathon
Start the taper ten to fourteen days before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week. With the race on March 21, 2027, your taper starts around March 9, 2027.
