Course
The CLASH Daytona course
The whole weekend is based at Daytona International Speedway: sprints race on Saturday, the Middle and Daytona Distances on Sunday from 7:00 a.m., and the Jingle Jog 5K runs Friday night under the holiday lights at ONE Daytona. The swim is in Lake Lloyd, the lake in the speedway infield, with a rolling start seeded by expected swim time: 1 mile for the Middle and Daytona Distances and 800 meters for the sprint.

The sprint (13-mile ride) and the Daytona Distance (35 miles) stay on speedway property, while the Middle Distance takes its 56 miles out onto closed local roads in laps, and lap 2 must start by 11:00 a.m. Every run stays on speedway property (3.1, 9 or 13.1 miles), so the terrain is essentially flat from start to finish. Duathlon, aquabike and relay versions are offered alongside the triathlons.

- Race-day conditions
- The organizers report typical race-morning water in the high 60s to low 70s °F (71 °F in 2022) and confirm the wetsuit rule on race morning, so bring your wetsuit. Early December in Daytona Beach usually runs from the low 50s to the low 70s °F, with mild, mostly dry air and the odd cool front or breeze. A cool morning can make the swim exit chilly, so have a vest or arm warmers ready for the first miles on the bike.
What to train for
Flat and fast makes this a power and pacing race: for the Middle Distance, ride 2 x 30 to 45 minutes at half-distance effort without coasting, because there are no descents to recover on.
Spend long rides in your aero position so your back and neck hold up for all 56 miles.
Do weekly bricks and build your long run to 13 to 15 miles, practicing an even pace on flat, open ground. Swim open water in a wetsuit with a rolling start in mind, working on sighting and a smooth exit into T1.

Your build to race day
Taper
Tapering for the CLASH Daytona
Start the taper ten to fourteen days before race day. Trim the volume in all three sports, keep short race-pace efforts in each, and do one last short brick so running off the bike still feels familiar. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week. With the race on December 6, 2026, your taper starts around November 24, 2026.
