Course
The Celebration Marathon course
Both races start at 7:00 a.m. at Front Street and Sycamore Street in downtown Celebration, the planned town beside Walt Disney World, and finish on Front Street. Half and full marathoners run together for the first 12 miles on a loop through the town's neighborhoods, out along Celebration Boulevard towards World Drive, with several stretches on boardwalks and paths through the surrounding wetlands.

Marathoners then head out on a second loop that largely retraces the first, with a few changes near downtown. The organizers call it what may be the flattest course you will ever run, and it is a USATF-certified Boston qualifier. Parts of the route are on open roads shared with traffic, and the official time limit is 7 hours for both races, with no sweep.

- Flat
- Distances
- Marathon, Half marathon
- Weather on race day
- The organizers give an average low of 48 °F and an average high of 71 °F for race date, so the 7:00 a.m. start is usually in the upper 40s to mid 50s °F. Central Florida mornings are often humid and warm spells with starts in the 60s do happen, so dress in layers you can shed and drink at every aid station.
What to train for
A flat course means no hills to break up the effort: train to hold an even goal pace for long, unbroken stretches.
Build tempo runs of 4 to 8 miles at marathon or half marathon pace and long runs that finish with 3 to 5 miles at goal pace.
Marathoners should rehearse the mental side of a second loop by running some long runs on a repeated circuit. Gels are handed out at miles 5, 13 and 18, so practice fueling at those points or carry your own.

Your build to race day
Taper
Tapering for the Celebration Marathon
Start the taper two to three weeks before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week. With the race on January 31, 2027, your taper starts around January 13, 2027.

Central Florida mornings are often humid and warm spells with starts in the 60s do happen, so dress in layers you can shed and drink at every aid station.
When should I start tapering for the Celebration Marathon?
Start the taper two to three weeks before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp.
