    Course

    The Princess Half course

The headline race of the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend (February 25 to March 1, 2027) starts at 5:00 AM at Walt Disney World Resort, with the 10K on Saturday and the 5K on Friday. The 2027 course map is not published yet, but recent editions have taken runners through EPCOT and Magic Kingdom, including Main Street, U.S.A. and Cinderella Castle.

Between the parks the miles run on wide resort roads and highways, where the only climbing comes from overpasses and on-ramps. Character stops and entertainment line the route, and runners must hold a 16-minute-per-mile pace or faster to stay on course.

    5K, 10K, Half marathon
    Weather on race day
A pre-dawn start in late February in Central Florida is usually 55–68 °F with high humidity, and some years start in the 70s. Treat it as a humid race even when it feels cool at the corral, drink early and expect to slow a little once the sun is up.

    What to train for

The course is flat, so the challenge is the clock and the conditions, not the hills: practise very early starts, fuelling before dawn and standing in a corral before you run.

If you want photos with characters, train continuous running at about 13 to 14 minutes per mile so stops never push you near the 16-minute limit.

Build to a 10 to 12 mile long run, and do some of them in warm, humid weather or on a treadmill in a warm room. Short overpass repeats teach you to keep cadence up on the ramps late in the race.

    Taper

    Tapering for the Princess Half

Start the taper ten to fourteen days before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week. With the race on February 28, 2027, your taper starts around February 16, 2027.

    Princess Half training questions

How long should I train for the Princess Half?

Most runners give a half marathon twelve to sixteen weeks of focused training on top of an existing base. The plan above counts back from your actual race date, so if you have less time than that it builds the best plan the remaining weeks allow rather than pretending you have longer.

Is the Princess Half course hilly?

Flat. The headline race of the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend (February 25 to March 1, 2027) starts at 5:00 AM at Walt Disney World Resort, with the 10K on Saturday and the 5K on Friday.

What is the weather usually like at the Princess Half?

A pre-dawn start in late February in Central Florida is usually 55–68 °F with high humidity, and some years start in the 70s. Treat it as a humid race even when it feels cool at the corral, drink early and expect to slow a little once the sun is up.

When should I start tapering for the Princess Half?

Start the taper ten to fourteen days before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week. With the race on February 28, 2027, your taper starts around February 16, 2027.
