The Brooklyn Half course

One of the largest half marathons in the United States, run from Prospect Park down Ocean Parkway and finishing on the Coney Island boardwalk. The park loop at the start has the only real hills, and the long straight down Ocean Parkway is flat and fast.

Weather on race day

May in New York is usually good, though a warm year makes the exposed Ocean Parkway stretch uncomfortable.

What to train for

Get through the park rollers under control, because the rest is a flat time trial. Practice negative splits: this course is built for them.
