- Weather on race day
- The organizers give an average race-day temperature of 9 °C. Ten years of mid-February weather data for Verona show average highs near 11 °C and lows near 2 °C, with around 3 °C at 8 am, so the start can feel cold. About one day in four in this window sees rain. Wear a throwaway layer and gloves to the grid, and dress for 8 to 10 °C running rather than for the chill at the start.
What to train for
This is a city half with many turns and short bridge ramps over the Adige, so practise holding goal pace through corners rather than surging out of them.
Build to a long run of 18 to 20 km, and include a weekly tempo of 20 to 30 minutes at half marathon effort.
Because the race is in mid February, much of your build falls in winter: plan a few indoor or midday sessions for cold spells and keep your easy runs truly easy. Pick your start grid honestly so you settle into rhythm without weaving in the first kilometres.
