Course
The Night Run Costão course
The race starts and finishes at Espaço Tuguá inside the Costão do Santinho Resort, in the northeast of Florianópolis island, with a 21:00 start on a midsummer Saturday night. According to the organisers, every distance includes about 1.3 km on asphalt and the rest is run on the beach at Praia do Santinho, with stretches of soft, unstable sand and possible water, rocks, holes and low light in places.

The course is flat but slow: the effort comes from the sand, not from hills. The organisers can alter the route, or switch the 7, 10 and 15 km to laps, if rain, wind, tide or shifting dunes require it. There are two water points on the 7 km, three on the 10 km and five on the 15 km, and the 2027 edition has a retro theme, Das Antigas.

- Weather on race day
- Mid-February nights in Florianópolis are usually warm and humid, around 23–26 °C at the 21:00 start with humidity near 80%. Summer showers are common and the sea breeze can be strong on the open beach, so drink well through the day and expect to sweat more than the temperature suggests.
What to train for
Sand running asks far more of your calves, ankles and hips than the road, so add one or two short runs a week on a beach or soft grass in the final six weeks, starting at 15 to 20 minutes and building up.
Strengthen feet and calves twice a week with calf raises and single-leg hops.
Train by effort rather than pace, because your pace per kilometre on soft sand will be much slower than on asphalt. Do a few runs after dark with a headlamp to get used to the light and the uneven footing.

Taper
Tapering for the Night Run Costão
Start the taper seven to ten days before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week. With the race on February 13, 2027, your taper starts around February 4, 2027.
