The roads are wide, the course is flat, and the route has been adjusted for running comfort and officially measured. It is a proven fast course: the records are 2:04:52 for men (2023) and 2:22:47 for women (2022). Support is lively all the way, with more than 200,000 spectators across the weekend; the 5 km City Run is held on the Saturday.

    Weather on race day
Mid-October in Eindhoven is usually cool, around 7–15 °C through the morning, with a fair chance of rain and some wind. These are good marathon conditions: start in a throwaway layer, and if it is breezy, run in a group on the open stretches.

    What to train for

A flat, fast course rewards precise pacing and marathon-specific endurance.

Build long runs to 30 to 35 km, including blocks such as 2 x 8 km or 3 x 6 km at goal marathon pace.

Run a weekly tempo session of 30 to 40 minutes just faster than marathon pace, and practise fuelling every 30 to 40 minutes. On a course this flat the real test is the last 10 km, so finish one or two long runs with 8 to 10 km at goal pace to rehearse it.

    Taper

    Tapering for the Eindhoven Marathon

Start the taper two to three weeks before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week. With the race on October 10, 2027, your taper starts around September 22, 2027.
