Course
The Eau d'Heure Triathlon course
The race is based at the ADEPS centre at Le Cierneau in Froidchapelle, on the Lacs de l'Eau d'Heure, and has run since 1991, making it one of Belgium's oldest triathlons. The Olympic distance starts at 9:30 with two 750 m laps in the Lac de la Plate-Taille, starting from the shore, then three 12.5 km bike laps plus a link section, and two 5 km out-and-back runs mostly on cycle paths.

The Promo starts at 14:30 with a 500 m swim, two 10 km bike laps and one 5 km run. Roads are closed to traffic during the race, and drafting is allowed, but on the Olympic distance only standard road bikes are permitted, with no time trial bikes or aero extensions.

- Race-day conditions
- Early June in Froidchapelle is mild, with average highs around 21 °C and lows around 11 °C, and about 71 mm of rain over roughly ten wet days in the month. Wetsuits are mandatory below 16 °C water temperature and banned above 24 °C, and if the water is below 12 °C the swim becomes a 5 km run (2.5 km for the Promo). Bring layers for a cool morning start and a rain jacket just in case, and enjoy racing among the lakes and forests.
What to train for
Each bike lap on the 2025 route map climbs about 150 m over roughly 13.8 km, so train on rolling roads and practice short, punchy efforts out of the saddle.
Since it is a drafting race, ride in a group and get comfortable holding a wheel and riding close to others on a road bike.
The run is gentle, about 34 m of climbing per 5 km lap, so brick sessions at goal pace pay off. Open-water practice with sighting and a shore start will help in the lake, and keeping track of your laps matters, since a missed lap means disqualification.

Taper
Tapering for the Eau d'Heure Triathlon
Start the taper seven to ten days before race day. Trim the volume in all three sports, keep short race-pace efforts in each, and do one last short brick so running off the bike still feels familiar. The course rolls, so keep one short session on undulating ground in the first taper week.
