    Course

    The Maratón de Pucón course

This is a point-to-point road race into Pucón: in the 2025 rules the marathon's kilometre zero was the plaza in Curarrehue, and the organisers run buses from Pucón to the start of every distance. All three distances start together at 8:00, so the marathon, half and 10 km fields share the early kilometres before they split.

Water and electrolyte drink are served about every 5 km and at the finish, and a sweep vehicle follows each course. The marathon has a 6-hour limit and the half marathon sweep sets off 3 hours after the start. Bib pickup and the running expo are at the Hotel Pucón on the Saturday.

    Weather on race day
Mid-November is late spring in Araucanía. At Temuco, the nearest long-term station, normals run about 7–20 °C and the month still brings around 7 rainy days, so an 8:00 start is usually cool and comfortable but can be wet. Pack a rain shell and a throwaway layer for the bus ride and the wait at the start.

    What to train for

Because you are bussed out and run back towards town, practise early starts after a long wait: eat 2 to 3 hours before your long runs and rehearse staying warm and loose before the gun.

The simultaneous start means the marathon field gets pulled along by 10 km and half runners, so do long runs with the first 5 km deliberately at goal pace and no faster.

Build to 30 to 32 km long runs with the last 8 to 10 km at marathon pace, and practise drinking from cups every 5 km, since that matches the aid spacing.
