Barbosa, Balneário Estreito), on the mainland side of Florianópolis, where kit pickup also runs the day before. The 21K and 15K go off together at 5:31 a.m., one minute after the elite 21K wave, and the 5K follows half an hour later at 6:01 a.m. The courses are measured by a CBAT-accredited measurer, and one of the signature moments is the tunnel section, where a DJ plays for the runners. The organiser has not published a detailed route map or elevation profile in text, so check the final course release in the weeks before the race. Time limits are generous: 3 hours for the 21K, 2 hours for the 15K and 1 hour for the 5K.

    Distances
    Half marathon, 15K, 5K
    Weather on race day
Late November in Florianópolis is usually mild and humid at a 5:30 a.m. start, around 19–22 °C, with daytime highs near 26 °C and humidity close to 80%. Rain falls on about one day in three that month, so plan your drinks for sticky conditions and expect the effort to feel harder in the final kilometres as the sun comes up.

    What to train for

The dawn start is the first thing to train for: do a few long runs at 5:30 a.m. with your usual pre-race breakfast so your stomach and legs are used to racing that early.

Build to 18–20 km long runs for the half (14–16 km for the 15K) with the last 5 km at goal pace.

Because the race is warm and humid, practise drinking every 20 to 25 minutes on long runs and do one weekly tempo of 20–30 minutes at half marathon effort. Add 6–8 short hill or ramp repeats to stay strong on the tunnel approaches and any bridge ramps once the final course is published.
