    Course

    The Meia do Trevo course

Start and finish are in the car park of Trevo Auto Shopping on Rua Diógenes Chianca, in the south zone of João Pessoa near Ponta do Seixas, the easternmost point of the Americas. The official map shows out-and-back routes: the 5K and 10K head west along the avenue toward Jardim Cidade Universitária and turn at separate points, while the 21K covers that stretch and adds a leg south on the coastal road toward Costa do Sol.

Water stations are spread along both legs, and the course is measured by the organisers together with the Paraíba athletics federation. Starts are staggered in the very early morning with the 21K going first, so much of the half is run before the sun gets high. No elevation profile has been published yet, so check the final map on the race site in the last weeks.

    Distances
    5K, 10K, Half marathon
    Weather on race day
Late January in João Pessoa is usually 25–28 °C at the early start, with humidity around 75–85% and a steady breeze off the Atlantic. The sun is strong within the first hour, so drink at every station and pace the 21K by effort rather than chasing cool-weather splits.

    What to train for

Heat and humidity are the main opponent here, so run part of your long runs at the same early hour and practise drinking on the move every 15 to 20 minutes.

Out-and-back legs mean several 180-degree turnarounds: rehearse slowing smoothly into a turn and accelerating back to goal pace.

Build to long runs of 18 to 22 km with the last 5 km at half marathon pace, and add a weekly session of 4 to 6 x 1 km at 10K pace so race pace feels comfortable.
