The Media Maratón de Elche course
Elche hosted Spain's first half marathon in 1969, and the 2027 race on 11 April is the 54th edition. The 21K and 10K share a unified start at 9:00 next to the Elche Parque train station, with pace-based waves and corrals by expected time.

The 21,097.5 m course is an urban asphalt circuit certified by the RFEA that runs from the city centre to the Palmeral Histórico, Europe's great palm grove and a UNESCO World Heritage site. There are four aid stations, one every 5 km, plus one after the finish. In 2026 more than 4,000 runners finished the 21K and more than 1,500 the 10K, with an average half marathon time of about 1:55.
- Distances
- Half marathon, 10K
- Weather on race day
- Ten years of mid April weather data for Elche show average highs near 21 °C and lows near 11 °C, with about 12 °C around the 9:00 start. Rain falls on about one day in five in this window, and the Mediterranean sun warms the second half quickly. A cap, sunscreen and a sip at every station keep you comfortable in the final kilometres.
What to train for
The official time limit is 2:30, with checkpoints closing at km 5 (35 minutes), km 10 (1:10), km 15 (1:45) and km 20 (2:20), so newer runners should train to hold about 7 minutes per km comfortably.
Build to a long run of 18 to 20 km and add weekly tempo work of 20 to 30 minutes at half marathon effort.
With aid every 5 km, practise drinking from a cup at those intervals. Choose your corral honestly when you register, because your bib colour sets your start box.
