Course
The Maratona do Paraná course
The 2027 edition moves to the Easter weekend (26–28 March) in Guaratuba, on the Paraná coast, with the event hub at the Centro de Eventos on Rua João Antônio Prosdócimo. Every distance is built around the Ponte de Guaratuba, the 1,240 m cable-stayed bridge over Guaratuba Bay that opened in May 2026 and links the town with Matinhos.

For 2027 the organisers have announced a new start and a beachfront finish after the bridge crossing, with the detailed route maps still to come. In the 2026 first edition the marathon ran from Guaratuba to Matinhos and back, gaining 232 m in total with two strong climbs on either side of the crossing and a flat final section, while the half gained about 141 m. Most of the climbing comes on the approaches to the bridge, and the deck is open to the coastal wind, with wide views over the bay.

- Marathon, Half marathon, 10K, 5K
- Field
- More than 20,000 participants across all distances in the 2026 first edition
- Weather on race day
- Late March in Guaratuba is still late summer: mornings usually start around 22 °C and highs reach about 27 °C, with high humidity and frequent showers (around 218 mm of rain in the month on average). Runners in 2026 found the coastal wind and humidity the hardest part, so start conservatively, drink early and expect a headwind on at least one bridge crossing.
What to train for
Build strength for short, steep climbs: once a week, run 8 to 10 hill repeats of 60 to 90 seconds at 10K effort, and include long runs with two solid climbs separated by flat kilometres to mirror the out-and-back over the bridge.
Practise running downhill relaxed with quick, short steps, because every climb to the bridge has a descent on the other side.
Do some long runs in warm, humid conditions and rehearse drinking at every aid station. The 2026 course ended on flat ground, so finish your longest runs with 5 to 8 km at goal pace on the flat.
