Course
The Curitiba Marathon course
All four distances start and finish at Praça Nossa Senhora de Salete in the Centro Cívico, a short walk from the Museu Oscar Niemeyer where the expo is held. The marathon route, published by the organisers as a Strava route, measures about 42.4 km on GPS with roughly 277 m of total climbing, and the 21K has about 195 m.

In 2025 the marathon passed through 22 neighbourhoods on avenues such as Cândido de Abreu, Visconde de Guarapuava and Prefeito Omar Sabbag and over the Viaduto do Capanema. At around 900 m above sea level, Curitiba gives you a slightly thinner, cooler air and a steady diet of gentle rises and falls rather than any single big hill. The start is at 5:00, in waves seeded by the pace you choose at registration.

- Weather on race day
- Mid-November in Curitiba is usually cool and changeable at dawn, around 13–18 °C at the 5:00 start, and the city is famous for having four seasons in one day. Rain or drizzle is common in late spring and the sun can be strong once it breaks through, so bring a throwaway layer and be ready to adjust pace to the conditions.
What to train for
With close to 280 m of climbing spread over many short rises, this course rewards runners who can keep their rhythm on rolling roads.
Do your long runs of 28 to 34 km on undulating routes and add a weekly session of 8 to 12 hill repeats of 45 to 90 seconds.
Practise marathon pace by effort on the climbs and let gravity help on the descents, and rehearse an early breakfast because the gun goes at 5:00.

Taper
Tapering for the Curitiba Marathon
Start the taper two to three weeks before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp. The course rolls, so keep one short session on undulating ground in the first taper week.
