Course
The Maratona de Boa Vista course
All four races start and finish at Parque Anauá, the large urban park in the heart of Boa Vista, which the organisers describe as the only Brazilian state capital in the northern hemisphere. The routes leave the park for the city's wide, planned avenues, and Boa Vista sits on a very flat plain at about 90 m, so expect only gentle grades.

The marathon starts at 4:00 in the dark, the half at 4:50, the 10 km at 5:30 and the 5 km at 5:40, so most of the racing happens before and around sunrise. The organisers list water points every 2.5 km, isotonic drinks at key points and three food stations with fruit, sweets, carbohydrate and salt. This 2027 race is the second edition, run under a Roraima athletics federation permit following CBAt and World Athletics rules.

- Marathon, Half marathon, 10K, 5K
- Weather on race day
- February falls in Boa Vista's drier season, but it is hot: usually around 24–26 °C at the pre-dawn starts, passing 30 °C soon after sunrise on the way to highs near 34 °C, with humidity around 70%. Start conservatively, drink at every water point and use the early start to cover as much distance as possible before the sun gets strong.
What to train for
Heat, not hills, decides this race.
Run your key sessions early in the morning in warm conditions, practise drinking every 2.5 km on long runs and rehearse a 3:00 wake-up so the 4:00 marathon start feels familiar.
On a flat course, steady tempo runs of 30 to 50 minutes at goal pace and long runs with the final third at goal pace are the best preparation. Marathoners should practise taking electrolytes and some real food during long runs, since the food stations offer fruit and salt.

Taper
Tapering for the Maratona de Boa Vista
Start the taper two to three weeks before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week. With the race on February 21, 2027, your taper starts around February 3, 2027.
