Course
The Kedron Running Festival course
Every race starts at Shaw Park, 128 Shaw Road in Wavell Heights on Brisbane's northside, on the corner of the Kedron Brook Greenway. All distances follow the Kedron Brook Cycleway, a sealed path that winds along the creek through parkland.

The course is flat and fast, which makes it a natural target for a spring personal best. The 10 km starts at 6:30, the half marathon at 6:50 and the 5 km at 8:00, with a 3.5 hour cut-off for the half and chip timing at every distance. The path is shared with walkers, cyclists and dogs, so the organisers ask runners to leave the earphones at home.

- Weather on race day
- Late September is spring in Brisbane, with mornings usually around 15–19 °C at the start, warming quickly to the mid-20s with rising humidity. The early starts help, but half marathoners will feel the sun in the final kilometres, so drink at every station and wear a cap. On a warm morning, start a little conservatively and let the pace come to you.
What to train for
A flat cycleway course rewards even pacing and heat readiness.
For the half, build long runs to 18–22 km with the last 5 km at goal pace, and add a weekly tempo of 25–30 minutes at half marathon effort.
For the 10 km and 5 km, run 5 x 1 km at 10 km pace with 90 seconds' jog. Do some sessions in the warmer part of the morning through September so the spring warmth on race day is not a shock.

Taper
Tapering for the Kedron Running Festival
Start the taper ten to fourteen days before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week. With the race on September 26, 2027, your taper starts around September 14, 2027.
