The Draft Day 10K course
The Draft Day 10K opens the Pro Football Hall of Fame Race Series in Canton, a heavily themed series that celebrates the Hall of Fame. The race starts at 8:00 a.m. on a Saturday in late April, with Centennial Plaza at 300 Market Avenue North in downtown Canton listed as the event location.

The rest of the series follows with the Training Camp 5K in June, the Kickoff 6K in late August and the Hall of Fame Half Marathon and 3-person relay the next day. Pace leaders run at every event to help you chase a PR, and finishers get a large medal and a long-sleeve shirt. The official page shows the route on its course map rather than in text, so take a look at it before race day.
- Distances
- 10K
- Weather on race day
- Late April in Canton usually brings highs around 63 °F and lows near 44 °F, so the 8:00 a.m. start is often in the upper 40s °F, which is lovely weather for a fast 10K. Spring is changeable, with about a one-in-three chance of rain on any given day. Winds average close to 7 mph, mostly from the west. Pack a light layer and gloves for the start in case of a chilly morning, and you will be set for a quick run.
What to train for
A late-April 10K is a great early-season goal and a strong start if you plan to run the whole series.
Build to two key sessions a week: intervals such as 5 to 6 x 1 kilometer at 10K effort, and a tempo run of 3 to 4 miles a little slower than goal pace.
Long runs of 7 to 9 miles give you the endurance to hold pace through the final mile. If you want help from the pace leaders, practice running at your target pace so you can settle in with the right group from the start.
