The Broad Street Run course

Ten miles straight down Broad Street from north Philadelphia to the Navy Yard, net downhill and almost perfectly straight. One of the fastest ten mile courses in the country and a huge field.

Weather on race day

Early May in Philadelphia is usually good, though a warm year on an exposed straight road is a real possibility.

What to train for

Ten miles is long enough to need real endurance and short enough to race hard. Threshold work plus a long run of twelve to fourteen miles covers it, and the flat straight course rewards even pacing.
