The Paris Half Marathon course

For reference, the 2026 race started on the Boulevard Saint-Germain, ran through eastern Paris and spent roughly km 5 to 14 in the Bois de Vincennes past the Château de Vincennes before finishing at Place de la Bastille. Expect wide city boulevards, a few short rises and dense crowds from start to finish.

- Weather on race day
- Early March in Paris is usually cool: mornings around 3–8 °C, warming toward 12 °C by midday, with rain on roughly one day in three. Start in a throwaway layer and gloves, and plan for a fast, comfortable racing temperature once you are moving.
What to train for
A March half means most of your training falls in winter, so protect consistency with two key sessions a week: threshold intervals such as 3 x 10 minutes and a long run of 16–20 km with the final 5 km at goal pace.
Practise starting conservatively in a packed field, because the first kilometres are crowded and surging costs more than it gains.
Include one or two runs on gentle park undulations so the short rises in the Bois de Vincennes or wherever the new route goes feel routine.

Taper
Tapering for the Paris Half Marathon
Start the taper ten to fourteen days before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week.
