    Course

    The Eu Amo Olinda course

Eu Amo Olinda is a 5 a.m. road race on Olinda's seafront, with Avenida Beira Mar listed as the venue on the official registration page. The headline distance is 15 km, with a 7 km race (including a para-athlete category) on the same morning.

The regulations still list the exact start area as to be confirmed and no course map has been published, so watch the organiser's updates in race week. The seafront avenue sits at sea level, so the challenge here is heat and humidity rather than hills. It is organised by ACOPE, the Pernambuco runners' association, and has the feel of a local community race.

    Weather on race day
Olinda in mid-March is usually warm and humid even before sunrise: expect roughly 24–27 °C at the 5 a.m. start, humidity near 80% and a sea breeze along the front. March is the start of the wetter season, so a passing shower is possible. Start conservatively and drink early, because the heat builds fast once the sun is up.

    What to train for

15 km at sea level in tropical humidity rewards aerobic strength and heat tolerance more than raw speed.

Build a weekly long run up to 16–18 km, run early in the morning so your body learns to work at race-time temperatures.

Add one session of 3 × 3 km at goal pace with 2-minute jog recoveries, and practise drinking while running. With a 5 a.m. start, rehearse your race-morning wake-up, breakfast and warm-up at least twice.

    Taper

Tapering for the Eu Amo Olinda

Start the taper ten to fourteen days before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp. The course is flat, so pacing decides the day: rehearse your goal pace in short segments during race week. With the race on March 14, 2027, your taper starts around March 2, 2027.
