In 2026 the race started at 7:30 am on Saturday, October 17, with ample free parking. It is part of the Striders Grand Prix and Volunteer Spirit series, which makes it a popular stop for local club runners. The 2027 date has not been announced yet.
- Distances
- 15K, 5K
- Weather on race day
- Ten years of mid-October weather data for Nashville show average highs near 73 °F and lows near 52 °F, with about 56 °F at 8 am. That is cool, comfortable racing weather, with rain on about one day in four or five in this window. A light layer before the start and a sip of water around halfway are usually all you need.
What to train for
The 15K is a rewarding distance for building speed endurance: train with a long run of 8 to 10 miles and one weekly session at 15K pace, such as 3 x 2 miles with short recoveries.
Practise running the second half slightly faster than the first, since a greenway course suits even pacing.
For the 5K, add short intervals (for example 6 to 8 x 400 meters) to sharpen your speed. Fall racing gives you a summer base, so keep easy runs easy in the heat and let the cooler weeks bring your harder sessions.
