There is also a Sprint MTB category for mountain bikes and a Sprint para-triathlon category. The organisers note that distances can vary by up to 10% depending on the venue, and the swim, bike and run course maps for this stop had not been published when we checked. Age groups run in five-year bands from 14 for the Sprint and ten-year bands from 16 for the Super Sprint, athletes without a federation licence can race by paying the local day-use fee where required, and kit pickup is normally the day before the race.

- Race-day conditions
- Mid-November in Balneário Camboriú is usually warm and humid, with mornings around 17–20 °C and afternoon highs near 25 °C, and spring showers are common. Coastal water in this part of Santa Catarina is usually around 21 °C in spring; the organisers had not published a wetsuit rule for this stop, so check the race briefing and train in both.
What to train for
A sprint rewards speed you can hold, so build 2–3 swims a week with 8–12 × 100 m at race effort and practise open-water starts and sighting if you can.
On the bike, ride 4–6 × 4 minutes at hard effort, and once a week follow a 20–30 minute ride straight away with 10–15 minutes of running at race pace to get used to the jump from bike to run.
Rehearse your transitions at home until they are calm and quick: in a race this short, a smooth T1 and T2 can be worth more than a week of extra training.
